National Recycling Week Activities

Recycling Bins – We are going to put some recycling bins in particular areas of the school next week.

There will be a Recycling Bin in Junior and Senior Dinning areas, in the Support Base and in the Garden outside of Support Base.

These Bins can be used for plastic bottles and empty cans, other plastics such as plastic sandwich boxes and cardboard.

You must ensure that all cans are empty and no food or general rubbish goes into these bins as it causes Contamination!

I will try to monitor these bins and empty them, unfortunately I can’t put recycling bins in the concourse this week because so many people but general rubbish in them which causes contamination.

Open Meeting with Waste Minimisation Officers from Perth & Kinross Council Wednesday 25th Sept 2.10pm Period 6 in Meeting Room 1.6.  If you are interesting in finding out more about how we can recycle and reduce waste there will be a talk from Perth and Kinross Council Officers.

Plastics to DET – Please take all your plastics that have number 2 or 5 on the bottom over to DET department where they will be recycled into plastic sheets.

Crisp Packets 400 empty packets is worth £2!  On the back of our recent publicity with our hidden crisp packets raising money for the Air Ambulance Service bring your crisp packets to Support Base.

Recycle your old felt tips – There should be some recycle boxes for these around the school. There is one in the Support Base. Don’t throw them in the bin bring them along and we will recycle them.

Take your Litter Home – The best way to reduce the litter around school is to take it home and put your plastics and can and cardboard into your recycle bins!

Thanks for your Co-operation Ms Egginton
