Boys MMA and Girls Self-defence class coming soon!! – We have professional MMA fighter Scott Malone running a 4-week block of lessons as follows: Monday after school small gym hall BOYS S1-S6 MMA class. Thursday after school small gym hall GIRLS S1-S6 Self-defence class. Classes shall start Monday 27th January and Thursday 30th January for 4 weeks. Come along and learn from former Judo Commonwealth Tournament Champ and current professional MMA fighter. All pupils welcome.

Tuesday Lunchtimes, 1.40 – 2.10, Cryptic Crossword Club in room 4.4. Absolute beginners more than welcome. Learn how to boost your IQ and lexical prowess and pit your mind against some of the most challenging puzzles.

Wednesday Lunchtimes, 1.40 – 2.10, Poetry Society will reconvene for 2020 in room 4.4. Whether you write, read or just want to know a bit more about poetry, this is the place to be. One participant last year described the club as “moderately engaging”.

Rugby – Can all U16 players who wish to be considered for selection for the upcoming Scottish cup quarter final match attend training on Thursday 4-4:45pm. Bring trainers as we will be on astro at perth academy. If you cannot make it but wish to be considered for selection please see Mr Dearden ASAP. All other teams training over the next 2 Thursdays will be cancelled due to this.

S3-6 – SSE Apprenticeship Activity Day – There are still a few places left for SSE’s apprenticeship activity days in March. SSE offer a wide range of apprenticeships and the day will be a mix of workshops and activities, including a tour of their Inveralmond training facilities. SSE apprenticeships, graduate apprenticeships and STEM opportunities are open to girls and boys. Please give your name to Mrs Martin asap.

S5 Pupils studying Higher Maths and Science subjects: Application for Strathclyde University’s Scottish Space School are now open. Closing date is Sunday 19 January 2020. The 2020 Scottish Space School @ Strathclyde residential summer school will be held at the University of Strathclyde from 15-19 June 2020 and applications are now being invited via the online application system. Now in its 17th year at the University, the Scottish Space School continues to inspire the next generation of engineers and scientists and is aimed at S5 pupils in Scotland currently studying Maths and Science subjects at Higher level.
