Debating – Meet today at lunchtime, room 4:6. We’ll have a short preparation debate on a current topic. Arrive early, get the motion, eat lunch, research, discuss then debate!

Trip to USA and Canada July 2019 – There are places available on a weeklong trip to New Brunswick, Canada and Maine, USA. The week will be in two parts; Staying at a camp on the Miramichi River in Canada, fishing for Atlantic Salmon. The second half of the week will be hands on conservation efforts on the East Machias river in Maine, USA. All accommodation and food will be free. The cost of the flights will be heavily subsidised. The total cost should not exceed £250 per pupil. There are 6 places available to current S3 / S4 and S5.

All S2 Girls – All S2 girls who participated in the GCHQ CyberFirst Girls 2018 competition should attend the meeting room (via Senior Dining) at 2:10pm today, Thursday 8th February for a photograph.

Perth and Kinross Cross Country Championships – The Perth and Kinross Cross Country Championships will take place on Wednesday the 28th of February. The course is a scenic

1-3 miles around Scone Racecourse. Could anyone interested in taking part come and see

Cheerleading Course – A Basic Cheer 1+2 course is running at the allstars club venue in Perth.

Open to pupils aged 16+

No experience necessary

Over two, 2 hour sessions

Small test at the end of the second night.

S1 Football – The S1 football team will be playing a 7-aside fixture against Perth Academy.  A team-list will be on the PE department notice board to check. As this is only 7-aside the squad will be small.  Apologies to those not involved.  This team will also have an 11-aside match the following week in the next round of the Scottish Shield with team news to follow.

S2 Football – The S2 football team will be playing Crieff High School on Monday 19th Feb (first Monday after the long weekend).  The squad will be the same squad as the previous two fixtures.  Kick off is 4:30.  Do not forget your kit!  Anybody unable to play should see

Pupils/ Staff – Mr Struth is back for one lunch only – Come along on 12th February to the Assembly Hall for 1.25pm, 50p admission.  ‘Who will be the best group of dancers to win?  The decision is in your hands!’

All S5 pupils – Corpus Christi College Christopher Marlowe Essay Prize for English 2018 – The English Department is promoting a new competition which involves writing a

1500 – 2500 word essay answering one of the following questions:

 

  • Discuss the importance of space and place in any of Shakespeare’s plays and poems.

 

  • Discuss one of the following in any literary work or works of your choice:

 

  1. Visual culture
  2. Sexuality
  3. Travel
  4. Furniture
  5. Animals
  6. Punctuation
  7. Ecology

 

  • Is the study of literary works a social good?

 

The top prize is £300 and an invite to attend a prize winners’ lunch at Corpus College in Cambridge. If interested see Miss Hynd in room 4.4.
