S5/6 Pupil Voice Leaders – A new leadership role for S5/6 pupils has been created to help improve our Pupil Voice Structure.  These pupils will work with Mr Murray and Mr Clarke to lead Pupil Voice Groups.  Many thanks to pupils who have already volunteered and anyone else who is interested should give their name to Mr Murray.  A meeting for Pupil Voice Leaders will take place on Friday 6th September period 4 in G32.

House Captain Application Forms – These are now available in Guidance Base G14.  Applications need to be completed and returned by Monday 9th September.

S4 Geography Trip to Dynamic Earth – Could all pupils who wish to attend on Friday please return their permission forms to Miss McKechnie in G2 ASAP. Parent Pay has been set up, please see me if there are any issues.

S1-S5 Pupils – Austria 2021 – There will be a meeting on Friday 6th September at interval in G20 for any pupil wishing to be part of the Austria trip in 2021.  This is a 9 day excursion to both Salzburg and Vienna.  If you are interested, come along to find out more details.

For all Pupils – There is a meeting on Wednesday 11th September during personal support and period 1 for all pupils involved in the pupil chaplaincy team.  We are also looking for new members to join the team and to share ideas, thoughts and skills.  If you are interested in being a part of the team or want to know more, please come and see Mrs Black in Music (G20) for more information.

All Pupils – A reminder that applications are now open for pupils who wish to do Sports Leader

level 4, Dance leader level 4, Badminton Basics, Netball getting Started and Multi-Skills coaching courses. As Active Schools heavily subsidise these awards pupils are expected to volunteer in a school or community club for a minimum of 20 hours beyond completion of their qualification. Application forms can be picked up from the Active Schools office in the new games hall facility from the poly pocket on the door.

All Pupils/Staff – To celebrate ‘National Read a Book Day’ we are hosting another Readaxation event in the library which is on TODAY at 1.15pm.  Staff and pupils are welcome to come and take part.  Do bring along your snacks/lunch to this event.  Staff and pupils can earn points again for their house for taking part in the event. Readaxation = relax and read in the library:  no computers, no tech, no blether, just you, a book and peace & quiet.

Arkwright Scholarships – Any S4 pupil interested in a career in Engineering and interested in finding out more about applying for an Arkwright Scholarship please come and meet Mr Sherriff in G11 in DET on Friday at 1.30pm.

Volleyball Club – Tuesday lunchtimes – New Games Hall – Any staff member who would be interested in volunteering on a Tuesday lunchtime to help with volleyball club should contact Jayne in the PE Dept or Christine in the Active Schools office.

Astroturf – The astroturf will be closed to pupils TODAY at lunchtime as it is being used by one of the school football teams at this time.  Pupils wishing to play football over lunch will have access to the grass pitches.

CHOIR – Mr Kelman’s Choir meets on Wednesday lunchtimes in room G19.

If you enjoy singing, just come along with your lunch at 1.15pm – we start singing at 1.30.

You will all be made more than welcome.  Looking forward to seeing you all there.

Ultimate Frisbee – The school Ultimate Frisbee club starts back this Thursday (5th Sep) after school, meeting in the old sports hall from 3:45-5pm.

The club is open to any year group, all abilities, and anyone who tried out Ultimate on their Active Day is especially welcome to come along.

Volunteering opportunities with SHIP for Duke of Edinburgh & Saltire Awards – charity SHIP (Support Help and Integration in Perthshire).  The charity support children and young people with additional support needs and disabilities to be included in social activities and clubs.  SHIP run clubs throughout the week, Saturday afternoons and within school holidays.

 

We currently have the following volunteering opportunities for young people from 14+.

  • Play worker
  • Fundraising
  • IT
  • Marketing

 

SHIP offers training before you start to ensure you have the skills and confidence to support young people.  The positions are all fun & rewarding and gives the opportunity to gain volunteering hours for Duke of Edinburgh and Saltire awards.

 

We have an open evening on Thursday 12th September from 6-8pm at Gleneagles Day Opportunities Centre, Craigie, Perth to find out more information. Training will start on Thursday 19th September.
